Normandie Casino license suspensions could mean end of California’s first card room
The oldest card club in the state of California may soon close its doors due to money-laundering convictions faced by the owners. Weeks ago, the California Gambling Control Commission revoked the licenses of the Normandie Casino owners indefinitely but allowed for a four month reprieve for the completion of a pending sale of the venue located on Vermont and Rosecrans avenues. Felony convictions in the state disqualify individuals from being able to hold a gaming license.

New Jersey once again asks the United States Supreme Court to hear sports betting case
In an attempt to legalize sports betting at the state’s casinos and racetracks, the New Jersey Thoroughbred Racing Association has appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which declined to hear the case after being petitioned two years ago, according to a NJ.com report.
In August, a federal appeals court found that a 2014 law signed by Governor Chris Christie to permit sports betting violated the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA), which bans all but Oregon, Delaware, Montana, and Nevada from such wagering.
